The latest measures to support employers and employees were established by GEO 92/2020, published on 28.05.2020. These are:

1. The refund from the unemployment insurance budget, for a period of 3 months starting with June 1, 2020, of a percentage of 41.5% of the gross salary for each employee who resumes his activity after it has been suspended for technical unemployment, during the state of emergency or alert. Employer have the obligation to maintain labor relations at least until 31.12.2020. The settled amount is capped at 41.5% of the average gross salary per economy.

Employers who have several objects of activity that the provisions regarding the reimbursement of the indemnities for technical unemployment are still applicable must choose ​​for one of the two facilities.

2. The employers of some categories of unemployed persons will receive, from the unemployment insurance budget, for a period of 12 months, a percentage of 50% of their gross salary per month, but not more than 2,500 lei per month for one person.

The conditions for accessing this facility are:

• The new employees to be between 16 and 29 years old or over 50 years old.
• The new employees to be unemployed persons registered as such who have lost their job during the state of emergency, for reasons not attributable to them.
• Employment contracts will be for an indefinite period
• The employment relationship will not end earlier than 12 months after the end of the period for which the facility is granted.
• Employers are not in a state of bankruptcy, dissolution, liquidation or suspension for reasons other than those related to SARS-CoV 2

3. Employers having suspended their activities as a result of measures to combat the effects of the Pandemic continue to benefit from the refund of the technical unemployment indemnity until the cessation of the respective measures.
